Terry Thomas was born in a mining village in the North East of England, attending a state school with a failed 11 plus examination. From that early age, there was a realization that there were going to be some interesting challenges ahead. Married with two young children living on a low income, decisions had to be taken if the families’ living standard were to be improved, and sacrifices would have to be made. Like many others in the 70s, people looked to the middle east and at the age of 31, a life changing event was about to take place in Saudi Arabia.
